What is the R-Value means?
|
|
 |
The R - value is
definitely not the only consideration
when choosing
insulation yet it is the first thing most
consumers ask, "What is the R value"

Blowing ATTICS
is the simplest,
most cost effective investment you can make
towards your homes value and energy efficiency for your
house.
There is a wide range of
products available for installation, but the preference
of the industry is fiberglass insulation like
Climate Pro insulation,
and also
Super Pink Insulation,
both are recognized as leaders in the industry and both
have compatible insulating properties, This is why they
are our choice number one!
The other
alternative is WEATHERSHIELDTM
Cellulose insulation
insulation, made with recycle paper. |

The
lack of insulation in exterior
walls allows for air to pass freely
from the inside of the house to the
outside in the winter season and
from the outside to the inside of
the house in the summer (i.e. hot
moves to cold). This transference
of air makes these houses very
uncomfortable and costly to heat
and cool! In fact, homes without
exterior wall insulation are hard
to maintain an even temperature in
any season.
As much
as
40% to 50%
temperature loss can occur by not
having insulated walls. |

The problem
of no insulation in exterior walls can be fixed without
tearing apart your house! Typically, insulation can be
installed in the exterior wall cavities by a technique
called "retro-fitting” (see diagram). This technique
requires that two holes per stud-cavity (one hole if
less than 4 feet in height) be drilled through the
exterior to allow insulation to be installed under
pressure. The holes sizes vary but typically 1 inch or
1˝ inch are used.
